What to do: Local Attractions, Skellig Tours, Outdoor Activities

Fishing: The nearby lakes and beaches attract anglers from all over Europe. There are fishing rods and tackle for use by our guests. See Waterville Insight website for more details.

Watersports: Skelligs Watersports is located on the local beach and hires out kayaks, scuba diving, boats and windsurfing. See Skelligs Watersport website for further details.

Golf: Ballinskelligs is within a short drive of two world class golf courses. Waterville is about a 20 minute drive and is rated one of the five best courses in Ireland, and among the top twenty Links courses in the world (see Waterville Golf Course website for details and reservations). Another challenging links course can be found at Dooks Golf Links in nearby Glenbeigh, about a 50 minute drive from Ballinskelligs. See Dooks website for details and reservations.

Other nearby outdoor activities include cycling, walking and horse riding. A recommended highlight is a boat trip from the local pier to the stunning Skellig Michael. Additional details are available at the Skelligs visitor center on nearby Valentia Island and at the Skelligs Experience website.

For indoor pursuits, Innisfree house is just a few minutes walk from the Ballinskelligs Inn and Rosies Tavern. We are located right behind the Cill Rialaig arts centre, which was built resembling an ancient stone fort and hosts numerous exhibitions painted by international artists residing in the nearby famine village retreat. During the summer it runs childerns art classes. It also offers excellent cuisine in its cafe. Only a short drive away, around the Skelligs ring, you will find the Skelligs Chocolate factory, well worth the trip for both the chocolate and the views!
